Small, portable, easy to use and plenty of space for the music I listen to most.

With 8 GB, I loaded most of the songs I tend to listen to. I may get an expansion microSD card to add more. Even then, I won’t get my whole collection, but I really rarely listen to all of my music…

The built in clip is perfect for me to take and hit the gym or take on the bus. And my car has an aux jack, so now I use the clip when I take longer drives.

The biggest bonus for me was the FM radio. My old MP3 player did not have one. So now I can easily switch from songs to the radio with one device.

I had the 4GB Sansa before and have replaced it with the 8GB Sansa Clip+. Unbelievably great product…I won’t repeat all the praises that other reviewers have already indicated but I concur with them.

The ONLY issue I have with the Sansa is minor: it does not correctly distinguish multiple genre values. I use multiple genres so that certain songs/albums appear in multiple categories in Windows Media Player. For example, with a Billie Holliday Ken Burns Jazz cd, I would tag the album “Jazz; Ken Burns Jazz; Jazz: Vocal”. In Windows Media Player, the album then appears in three separate genre categories — nice, for example, if I want to random play among the other various Ken Burns Jazz cds, or similarly want to random play among other Jazz: Vocal songs. The Sansa, however, does not recognize the semicolon as a delimiter. It just puts the album into a single genre called “Jazz; Ken Burns Jazz; Jazz: Vocal”. The upshot is that this makes random play by genre on the Sansa not work correctly. You can work around this by creating playlists, but that’s a lot of work and defeats all the effort to tag albums with multiple, precise genres.

I’ve not yet tried to find a solution to this issue with SanDisk…will post an update if I find one.

  5. This player is totally awesome!

It’s the first time I buy a player this small. Before I thought these were too short on space, but with a microSD slot, it’s not the case anymore.

Also, it’s so tiny and light you’ll forget you’re wearing it.

The sound quality is really great too, especially with high quality ‘phones. So portability doesn’t kill sound quality.

The only thing I thought was a bit weird at first is the way it always goes back to the playing screen if you’re in the menus and stop moving for a few seconds. A little annoying, but I hope a firmware update would make this optional in the future.

Maybe some could find the 15 hour battery life a bit short too, but I think it’s ok for a player this size.
